State Route 203 Improvements and Repairs Announced
Between Carnation and Duvall

Detour Information and Map Included

***UPDATE: This project will now start on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. That change is reflected below.

On November 18, 2020, the Riverview School District, along with city and community partners, received an update on the anticipated start date for the next round of repairs for an unstable slope on State Route 203 (SR 203) between Carnation and Duvall.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, contractor crews will close all lanes of the highway, south of N.E. Stillwater Hill Road, and begin installing drainage pipes under the roadway and in the hillside above. These repairs, and the associated road closure, are anticipated to last through mid-January 2021. When the work is complete, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) indicates they will open both lanes of SR 203 and spend the winter months finalizing a more permanent design-construction solution.

During this extended closure, previous detour routes will be reinstated onto local roads. Local access only will be granted on SR 203 between N.E. 124th Street and Stillwater Hill Road, and between Carnation Farm Road N.E. and N.E. 88th Street.

As a result of the SR 203 road closure, student route bus stop times and book/supply drop times will be changing. Our Transportation team will be sending updated book/supply drop times to each individual school, while students and families receiving transportation services will be contacted directly on what changes, if any, will be made to their pick-up times.
