Riverview School District and Public School Employees of Riverview Reach New Three-Year Agreement
The Riverview School District (RSD) and Public School Employees of Riverview (PSE) have agreed to a new three-year collective bargaining agreement, in place through the 2020-21 school year. The agreement, ratified by members of PSE on July 16, 2018, ensures classified support staff in Riverview will receive competitive compensation and benefits, compared with surrounding school districts. The Riverview School District Board of Directors voted to approve the new contract on Tuesday, August 14, at its regular board meeting.
Contract negotiations were anticipated and planned for, as the existing PSE membership agreement was due to expire on August 31, 2018. Both organizations were happy to reach an agreement by the early summer.
“Our bargaining unit is always pleased when we are able to collaborate with the school district,” stated PSE President Kory Loresch. “We truly believe we have provided our members a strong three-year agreement.”
The two organizations have a long history of respectful and productive negotiations, focused on students, staff, and the community.
Janet Gavigan, Riverview’s Assistant Superintendent, HR, said, “We could not be more thrilled to have these agreements in place, well before the start of the school year. Together, we had a successful and collaborative negotiation process that not only meets the needs of our district and PSE members, but will also see a direct benefit to our students and extended Riverview community.”
