RUN HIDE FIGHT
COMMUNITY INFORMATION NIGHT
Monday, January 28, 2019
Riverview ESC | 6:30 p.m.
The Riverview School District will be hosting a community presentation on Run Hide Fight, Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Riverview ESC building, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Riverview has committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students. In order to achieve this, the district has adopted uniform, district-wide response plans for various emergencies. Students have been taught to evacuate, how to shelter-in-place, what hold-and-secure means, and what to do when placed in a lockdown.
The Department of Homeland Security, in response to the growing number of active shooter incidents in the public space, work place, and schools, strongly recommends adopting an options-based approach, when responding to a violent intruder. Commonly, this is known as Run Hide Fight.
The Run Hide Fight curriculum provides a set of options meant to maximize the ability to survive an attack by a violent intruder.
In the coming months, age-appropriate curriculum, focused on the Run-Hide-Fight protocol will be gradually introduced and expanded over the course of a student's K-12 tenure.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of potentially sensitive subject matter, parental discretion is advised and we recommend this be considered as an adult-only event.
We encourage you to join us on January 28, 2019 to learn more about Run Hide Fight and the current and future implementation within Riverview schools.
