The Riverview School District is pleased to welcome and introduce Scott Petersen to Tolt Middle School and our extended Riverview community, joining the district as new Assistant Principal at Tolt, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.
Mr. Petersen joins Riverview after serving as Assistant Principal and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director for Orting High School and the Orting School District since 2017. He earned his Master of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences, with a specialization in Career and Technical Education Administration from Central Washington University in 2015. Prior to working in district administration, Mr. Petersen was as a teacher and Technology Student Association Advisor for Eastlake High School in the Lake Washington School District from 2012-2017. He also has an extensive background in coaching, primarily in youth basketball, dating back to 2007.
Bilingual, and a resident of our Riverview community, Mr. Petersen has overseen PBIS implementation at the secondary level, worked on new teacher inductions, collaborated with district administration on school safety and security changes, supported alternative learning environments, and spent considerable time investing in teacher growth and professional learning. He has earned Master Teacher designation, helping design science curriculum for ASM International, which led to his leading trainings for educators during summer camps across the state and country.
