Mary Morman Named Interim Principal of Cherry Valley Elementary

The Riverview School District is excited to announce that Mary Morman has been named the new Interim Principal of Cherry Valley Elementary, pending School Board approval, for the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.

With a dedication and commitment to elementary schools throughout her education career, and a track record of success in teaching, mentoring, and coaching, Mary Morman is a proven instructional leader who builds effective and lasting relationships with staff, students, families, and community.

“It is an honor to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Cherry Valley,” she shares. “I look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and collaboration.”

Morman first entered the world of education with Peoria Unified School District in Glendale, Arizona, working as an instructional assistant for the district’s preschool program in 2001. She taught preschool from 2005 to 2013, also serving as an Early Childhood Mentor Teacher for State of Arizona Universities during that time. She taught kindergarten and third grade between 2013-2015, before joining Riverview School District in 2015. Most recently, she earned her Educational Administrative Certification from Gonzaga University in the spring of 2023.

As an elementary classroom teacher at Carnation Elementary, she cultivated relationships and created a positive and nurturing environment to meet the needs of all students. Morman became the district coordinator for Title 1 and LAP Intervention from 2017 to 2022, developing and implementing an intervention model for striving readers and writers across the district in kindergarten through fifth grade.

In 2020, Morman earned the opportunity to serve on the Committee of Practitioners, Title 1/LAP, within the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), representing Riverview School District and advocating and amplifying the district’s voice around this important work.

Morman further led professional development efforts for interventionists, teachers, and educational assistants in her coordinator role. This provided a pathway to her being hired as an elementary Professional Learning Leader (PLL), as part of the district’s Teaching and Learning Department, during the 2022-2023 school year.

In addition to her PLL work, she completed her administrative internship at Carnation Elementary last year and used her unique capacity as an administrator and PLL to collaborate with district leadership, teachers, and staff on implementing school-wide Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS) and supporting teachers with effective strategies in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

Please join us in welcoming Mary Morman to the Cherry Valley Cheetah community as their new Interim Principal!
