On April 28, 2022, Riverview School District earned two “Best in Show” awards, and ten overall awards, as part of the Washington School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) Annual Conference.
Riverview earned a Best in Show award in the category of “Video (Storytelling) (for Districts under 10,000 students)” for “Dreams and the Future,” featuring nearly 20 students discussing what they see for themselves in the future. Framed around returning to in-person learning in the wake of a global pandemic, the video was shared with staff as part of the district’s “Welcome Back!” event in August 2021 and distributed to the community in September.

A second Best in Show award, in the category of “Branding/Image Package (for districts under 10,000 students), went to the district’s “Get Out and Vote!” levy campaign graphics, branding, and materials. A sample is provided below. Voters approved two replacement levies in February 2022.
“To earn recognition from WSPRA, and receive two Best in Show prizes, is truly a wonderful and humbling experience,” said Mike Ward, Riverview’s Director of Communications. “The WSPRA Awards we received this year truly reflect a culture of collaboration, connection, and innovation.”
The WSPRA Communication Awards recognize creative and effective work in school district communications from across the state. Entries are encouraged from all public and private schools or districts, including special schools such as vocational-technical institutes, regional or county education service districts, education agencies, and private enterprises serving as partners with those organizations.
