On Friday, February 18, the King County Elections Board certified the results of the February 8 Special Election. We are thrilled to share with our Riverview Community that both propositions have passed!
By approving Proposition #1 (51% of the vote) – Educational Programs and Operations – funding will renew and support approximately 18% of our budget that the state does not consider “basic education.”
Approval of Proposition #2 (54.1%) – Technology and Capital Projects – provides renewed funding and support for technology upgrades, while also allowing the district to handle facility repairs and maintenance, as well as ongoing needs for portable additions and replacements.
Approving these levies will help open new opportunities for our students, while continuing to keep opportunities which provide the comprehensive education our community expects and deserves.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to “Get Out and Vote!” We had the third highest voter percentage of registered voters (38.1%) among all King County school districts with levies and bonds on the ballot in this election cycle. As we have stated before, “An engaged community is a stronger community.”
We want to thank the volunteers of the Riverview Schools Committee, who invested considerable time and energy in advocating and supporting the levy propositions. We thank all our community members who attended and participated in our in-person Open House events and Virtual Open House livestream. We also thank everyone who took the time to reach out to us via email, phone, or direct message to ask questions, as well as everyone who visited our Levy 2022 page, and anyone who asked for additional information by talking personally to district staff.
Although these replacement levies have passed, we do recognize we have more work to do. We understand this was a difficult decision for many parents and community members. As a district, we want to open up lines of communication with you and provide opportunities to hear from you.
