Riverview Students Earn Awards of Merit from Washington State PTA Reflections Competition

Congratulations are in order for Alexis Lehner (Cedarcrest High School, 10th Grade) and Colette Rogahn (Carnation Elementary, 2nd Grade), who received Award of Merit honors from the Washington State PTA as part of the state-wide Reflections Arts Competition.

Alexis' piece, "Divine Intervention" earned the Award of Merit in the Visual Arts (Grades 9-12) High School category. For Rogahn, her entry entitled "Heart Ring" was granted an Award of Merit in the Photography (Pre-K - Grade 2) Primary category.

The annual PTA/PTSA Reflections Arts Competition invites students in grades ranging from Pre-K to 12th Grade to create original works of art in response to a theme. This year's theme was "I am Hopeful Because..." and themes are selected from student submissions. Students are able to enter in one or more of the available arts categories (Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature and Music Composition) and compete at the school level. Then a district-wide council PTA event determines the finalists who advance to the state round. Recipients of the "Outstanding Interpretation" award advance to the National PTA round. The theme for 2024-2025 is "Accepting Imperfection."

Alexis and Colette's work is shared below. Please join us in congratulating them on such impressive work and congratulations to everyone who competed in Riverview's 2023-2024 Reflections Art competition.
