Updates from Riverview School District - August 26, 2021

Dear Riverview Community:

The purpose of this communication is to provide updates to our Riverview Community as we move closer to the return of full-time, in-person learning and the first day of school on September 1, 2021.

In this update, we share links to the new bus routes for the 2021-2022 school year, updates and additional information (including an updated FAQ) on Edgenuity and the Puget Sound Online Learning Cooperative virtual learning program, a link to September menus, and more.

2021-2022 BUS ROUTES NOW AVAILABLE FROM OUR TRANSPORTATION TEAM!

The Riverview School District is happy to share new bus routes with our Riverview Community, as well as a note from our amazing Transportation Team! If you have any questions regarding bus routes and how they relate to your drop-off or pick-up needs, please contact our Transportation Department at (425) 844-4540.

The Riverview Bus Drivers are excited for our drivers to return and drive our amazing students for the 2021-2022 school year!

Please select the tab (or link) for your student’s school to see up-to-date bus routes for the new school year. Each year, and especially during the first few weeks of a new school year, bus routes can change. The inbound and outbound routes can be in a different order than the past.

Pick-up and drop-off times may also change, so it is best to not rely on previous year's bus schedules.

Bus numbers can also change, with some students needing two different buses, or riding a transfer bus. Most elementary buses will have a color assigned to their route. A placard with your bus’s color is located by the entrance door of the bus to help your child find their bus home.

If you have any questions regarding these routes, or any routes posted on the district website, please contact the Transportation Department Offices at (425) 844-4540.

Thank you! Riverview School District Transportation

PUGET SOUND ONLINE LEARNING COOPERATIVE/EDGENUITY UPDATES

We have gained additional information on the grade K-8 virtual learning option we are offering as part of the Puget Sound Educational Service District Online Learning Cooperative. Please read through the information below and visit our "PSESD K-8 Virtual" tab on the FAQ page of our Engage - Riverview 407 website to determine if this is a good option for your child(ren) and family.

Please note: The registration deadline is by the end of day on Tuesday, August 31.

  • Curriculum is self-paced at the grade level of the student.

  • Riverview students participating in our Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs including this virtual program, will begin their online coursework on Tuesday, September 7. Course beginning and ending dates are aligned to the RSD school calendar.

  • The program requires an adult guide (Edgenuity uses the term “Learning Coach”) to support the student through the online curriculum. This is especially important for elementary students.

  • Students in grades K-5 will be registered into English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health and Art for the first semester.

  • Students in grades 6-8 will be registered into English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health and Digital Citizenship for the first semester.

  • With the virtual option, Special Education services will be provided by the home school. The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team will convene to determine details and methods of delivery to meet a student’s IEP goals.

  • Once registered, students/families will receive an email from the Edgenuity teacher with teacher contact information, links to the curriculum, and additional information for the courses for the semester.

  • The Edgenuity teacher will contact students during the week of August 30. If you register and have not been contacted by the end of the day on September 2, please contact us at rsdtl@rsd407.org

To register, please complete this form. Registration will close on the end of day on Tuesday, August 31.

SAFETY AND HEALTH PLANS

As our staff and administrators return together to continue preparations for the 2021-2022 school year, our Riverview School District staff have reviewed and been updated on new safety and health protocols for staff and students, as part of the ongoing development of Safety and Health Plans (SHPs) in each of our school locations. SHPs are available for public viewing by individual request.
